In Venice, Giudecca Fondamenta Zitelle. With a view of the…
Built in 1904, the property known as “Mon Plaisir”was specifically designed to be a Casino, during Lido’s colourful, exuberant hey-day. Its positioning is integral to the atmosphere and life it offers, a few metres away from Santa Maria Elisabetta near bars, restaurants and shops.
This beautiful Liberty style villa benefits from an independent entrance and it develops over two levels, with two beautiful terraces and a lovely, secluded garden. The view from the second terrace stretches as far as Redentore on Giudecca, and the sea is only a few hundred metres away.
The villa is characterized by elegant period glass windows that inundate the whole property with natural light, as well as an internal wooden staircase connecting the two levels.
From the hallway on the raised ground floor we find an elegant oval salon that offers access to a beautiful terrace and which was initially made to house the casino’s roulette table; we then find a spacious dining area, with an alcove at its end, which serves as a cozy and elegant reading area. This rooms also leads onto a small terrace that gives access to the garden.
Here we find not only privacy and an oasis of peace in the very center of the island, but also a huge wisteria, wild jasmine and several magnolia trees which provide lush green tranquility.
A beautifully well-kept oak parquet flooring covers the entire first level, where we also find the kitchen and a bathroom.
On the second level we have four bedrooms; they all interconnect if needed, which is perfect for a family.
There is also a bathroom with original tiling, as well as an area that could be turned into a sauna.
The master bedroom also has a lovely terrace.
Other features of note include mosaics outside depicting of artichokes (at that time Lido was full of wonderful artichokes) and several design features that are typical of Austria, another strong influence in the Veneto region.
